Our Story

The Early Days

Lexie and Alex stood next to each other at Kindergarten graduation after a year of spending no time together (because Alex had cooties) and the rest is history…

Jokes jokes, there’s more to it than that. They spent the next eight years at different schools and reconnected at North Farmington- it was a great day to be a Raider, ya’ll! Lexie caught Alex’s eye senior year, but she had a boyfriend at the time. Call him crazy, but this didn’t quite stop Alex from pursuing her. The two ended up dating and journeyed to MSU as a happy couple.

As most of you know, college was an interesting turn of events for #ALexie…Lexie wanted to live it up freshman year and broke Alex’s heart, only for Alex to turn around two years later and do the same thing to Lexie on good old Superbowl Sunday (he didn’t quite touchdown that night). After almost a year (of Lexie scheming to sneak her way back into Alex’s heart), the two were back together, this time with the intention of it being for good…we think it worked, you be the judge.

After undergrad Alex decided to pull a Van Wilder and stay in East Lansing for another year. Lucky for him, Lexie also had a semester left. Alex went out more than he did his senior year, while Lexie lived with Yukyoung Kim- the infamous Craigslist roommate who kept frog legs in the fridge- it was truly an awesome year for Lexie (lol).

Fast Forward a Few years…

Alex moved to Royal Oak and lived through his first busy season (pulling all-nighters at the Deloitte office, but sure, I guess we can call that making it through) and Lexie lived at home for a year before her journey toward becoming a therapist began (#zen). They were semi-long distance for a year while she lived in Ann Arbor (and Alex wanted to puke on the block ‘M’ every time he visited her). They talked about moving in together and jumping ship for several months until one day they pulled the trigger- Denver, here they come!

Alex started working for a smaller firm (less all-nighters) and Lexie got her first therapist job working with at-risk youth. After one of her residents sprayed another staff member with a fire extinguisher she decided it was about time to call it quits. She took the leap and pursued private practice, while Alex continued to build relationships at his new firm. About a year after moving to Denver, Alex and Lexie FaceTimed with Rob and Jan and picked out their dog- technology, am I right? Welcome to the fam, Winston! Lexie’s leap of faith worked and she’s been able to pay the bills while doing what she loves. Alex continues to learn more about his passion, real estate, while working at his firm, and Winston has stolen their hearts forever and ever (no matter how much of a menace he is).

Summer 2018 came rolling around and traveling felt like an everyday occurrence. Josh and Jake came for a casual visit to Denver for what Lexie thought was a weekend of fun and concert-going. To her surprise, the weekend ended in a proposal atop the mountain of their first hike…WILD! Lexie was speechless as she turned a corner to see their families and closest friends before Alex got down on a knee (fun fact- As Lexie was walking toward the group, she truly believed it was just a big family posing for scenic family portraits…Alex clearly nailed the surprise factor). It was absolutely unreal, a moment she will never forget and a moment Alex was thrilled to have made it through (he was “the most nervous he’s ever been…awwww). She said………yes, duh.

Their time in Denver was filled with more visitors than they can count, Alex learning how to not crash into Lexie while snowboarding, and truly amazing memories in the most beautiful state…we’ll get corny here for a sec- their time in colorful Colorado was incredible and their love for one another continued to grow #nextlevel. But, with a wedding to plan, professional opportunities to cease, and the prospect of raising a family near their parents, the two have officially moved back to the mitten. Denver, and Colorado as a whole, were truly amazing, but family and close friends were calling and they’re thoroughly enjoying having so much love around the corner. As Lexie keeps saying, “it wasn’t a goodbye, it was a see you later,” for the two both continued their work remotely (Lexie also joined a private practice in West Bloomfield) and plan to frequent the state often. Alex and Lexie purchased a home in Michigan (#adulthood) where they are super excited to create memories with loved ones over the years.

They are so grateful for the many wonderful humans in their lives and cannot wait to celebrate with you all in 2020!

We are so excited to celebrate with you!
