The Girls Across a Lifespan…

Birth – maid of honor

Fallon levin

Sisters by birth, friends by choice <3. Being that Fallon is five years older than Lexie, their early lives never quite overlapped. When she was graduating middle school, Fallon was graduating high school and headed off to Ann Arbor. It wasn’t until Lexie was in college and Fallon was back from her year in Israel that the two were able to spend quality time together. Ever since, the two have truly become the best of friends, talking on the phone almost every day.

Lexie spends as much time as possible at the Levin’s and can’t get enough of Zehava Henny and Eden Rose. When time allows, Fallon and Lexie can be found cooking delicious veggie dishes and baked goods, and laughing at silly things along the way. They run home/style/food ideas by one another on a regular basis and Lexie thoroughly enjoys helping Fallon organize her home. Lexie takes comfort in knowing she has someone to talk to about anything under the sun, who understands certain parts of her life that no one else truly can #aw. Lexie feels so grateful to have this bond that comes with sisterhood!

1997

Rachel [Rach] Devries

Lexie came late to first grade and Rachel was determined to show her the ropes of the Hillel Day School playground and they’ve been besties ever since. Rachel gave Lexie her first dose of etiquette and hospitality lessons- always teaching her to offer her house guests food and water, even if the only thing she had in the house was eggs. Rachel and Lexie were like two peas in a pod throughout middle school, riding the bus home from school during the week and having sleepovers on weekends. Lexie has helped Rachel organize and decorate over the years and always adds a bit of silliness, “weirdness,” into their moments together.

The two can be found on the phone or hanging out in Lexie and Alex’s living room chatting about major life decisions or perhaps Rachel just telling Lexie she is already a housewife…housewife by day, therapist by night, Rach! Rachel continues to brighten Lexie’s face with perfect little gifts for life’s many joyous occasions.  Their friendship has stood the test of time and distance for 22 years and it ain’t goin anywhere!

2001

Ilana Dell

It all started in fourth grade- Ilana came over to Lexie’s after asking her during four-square if she wanted to have a playdate. Lexie peed in her pants while laughing hysterically (this wouldnt be the last time)…and they never had a playdate again.

Fast forward four years to the set of their 8th grade play, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, where they shared the stage in lead roles- who would have thought they’d be stars?! High school brought these two closer together as they journeyed through BBYO, meeting people both near and far laughing about bizarre things along the way. Ilana and Lexie had a stint together at her Dad’s office, but Lexie peed in her pants behind the filing cabinet one too many times for the job to work out long term- bummer, she thought she’d have a career as a receptionist. Though they’ve had a long-distance relationship since high school they’re still thick as thieves, laughing at weird things and reminiscing on good times when they’re together.

2003

Miki [Mik] Levran

Bar/Bat Mitzvah carpool brought Miki and Lexie into one another’s lives…boy is she thankful they lived in the same square mile because it started a friendship deeper than the sea <3. Miki was one of the only friends Lexie had going into public high school. They stuck by each other and ended up being part of the same group of newly-made friends, often called The United Nations, and took on the slopes as a part of the North Farmington ski team – who do you think was better? (The answer: they were both awful compared to everyone else on every other team.) Their journey continued to Michigan State, where despite having different paths, they always made time for one another.

Though they haven’t lived around the corner from one another since high school their relationship has only continued to deepen, to the point that many people in passing think they’re sisters (they happen to look alike too).

2004

Courtney [Court] Krause

Annette and Company brought these two together for hip-hop classes and trips to Mr. Pita (we’d like to thank Courtney for funding pickles and warm pitas for two years). They journeyed into high school together making PhotoBooth videos singing The Princess Diaries soundtrack and creating a business that was sure to be a success, Party Poppers: cake pops for grad parties (SO creative, we know). They dabbled in the industry for all but one week before realizing they weren’t in fact baking geniuses.

Courtney’s parents’ house feels like a second home to Lexie, as her kitchen table always brings the girls (her mom included) together for a good gossip sesh. Despite Courtney and Lexie going to different universities, the two remained close, spending summers eating rice cakes and going to yoga classes. Courtney is now a mother of two cuties and lives only a short drive from Alex and Lexie (so exciting!!). Lexie goes over for weekly dinners or post-bedtime get togethers whenever they can make it work and their conversations seem to go for hours before one of them realizes it’s midnight- oops.

2005

Shayna Stillman

These two met at Annette and Company and laughed at various silly things while doing the same dances year after year in their classes together (if you know, you know). They both quit, shocker, but found their way back to each other when getting accepted to MSU and deciding to room together – they felt like it was the perfect match (and Shayna saved Lexie from living in a dorm that was in the middle of nowhere). The two experienced all the joys that come with freshman year including a caf that was under construction with ceiling bits falling into their food while eating (perk: got to take food back to their dorm) and late-night puking after frat parties that got a little out of hand (oops).

Lexie and Shayna can be found talking about the deeper moments in life or on the other end of the spectrum, talking about where people from their college and dance days are in life now =p. Despite living in different states, the two have remained in each other’s lives since and Lexie can’t wait for the day Shayna tells her she is ready to move back to the mitten.

2006

Rachel [Rach] Klisman

It all began with walks to Yoz freshman year- Rachel and Lexie lived in the same neighborhood and when high school brought them together they took advantage of that proximity with nothing short of an amazing cup of low-fat Yoz yogurt. Ceramics class strengthened their bond as they made huge vases for their bedrooms that almost fell apart week after week (somehow they made it to the kiln in one piece). The two journeyed on to MSU where Lexie takes the credit for fixing Rachel up with her beau, Benny.

Though they haven’t lived in the same state since, the two catch up regularly by phone and see each other whenever they can. Rachel can still be found calling Lexie out on her weirdness and keeping her in check.

2008

Hannah [Han] Skolnick

Till this day people are puzzled by how Lexie and Hannah met- shes from Dallas and went to UCLA and Lexie is from Michigan and went to MSU- hmmm. Well folks, they met at a BBYO Summer Program and their bond was so strong that they knew right away they’d be forever friends. Till this day they joke that they should be part of one of the BBYO Summer Program ads- the magic really worked (ha)! After high school the two studied abroad together in England, taking physics class during the week (can’t lie, Lexie almost failed while Hannah and her other UCLA genius friends excelled with minimal effort), and traveling Europe on weekends.

Their relationship has always been filled with humor and accents and they hope this never changes. Hannah’s parents moved to Silverthorne, Colorado which was super convenient for Lexie and Hannah to see each other regularly, and also for Alex and Lexie, for they knew they had a fun Dad to ski with whenever they were in the mountains. Since moving back to the mitten, the two are glad they have some place to stay when they visit Colorado and can’t wait to get back there sooner than later.

2008

Lauren Rouff

Who would have thought that sharing a birthday could bring two people so close!? Lauren and Lexie’s friendship (was hardly a friendship if they’re both being honest) began when they were in BBG and discovered they both had October 23rd birthdays. They would post on each other’s Facebook walls each year and pretend like they were close, but it wasnt until almost six years later that they actually became real friends…and then Lexie wondered how the heck it took so long because it was a fast-friendship indeed. Turns out they vibe about way more than just their birthdays! Lauren and Lexie ended up living together during grad school where Lauren became the official sous chef of 1023 Bakery (don’t fret, one day we’ll all know what this is).

They have grown quite close in the last four years and as Alex says, there’s nothing going on in Lexie’s life that Lauren doesn’t know about- from trying to decide between two sizes of winter boots figure out which size boots, to helping her compile Hannukah gifts for Alex. Lauren is her go-to problem solver and might as well be her co-therapist, for she gives Lexie ideas for her teen groups weekly. Lexie is now a short 10-minute drive away from Lauren and they take advantage of this with walks around their neigjborhoods or meeting at the Birmigham Farmers Market – their friendship is the real deal ya’ll <3

2009

Kaitlin [Babe] Jeske

Kaitlin lived down the hall from Lexie and Shayna freshman year. Lexie knew right from the get-go that this girl was a wild-one, and a good one, so she invited her to Sigma Kappa (Lexie’s sorority)’s second round of bidding new members. Kaitlin made the cut and was officially more than a friend, she was a sister (LOL). The two lived together for the rest of college, including sharing one of the smallest rooms in the sorority house while Lexie made Kaitlin crazy texting on her Blackberry at night (click click click). The two could be described like siblings, having a love-hate relationship consisting of Kaitlin half physically bullying Lexie but then ‘loving on her’ a moment later. They went through all the important college milestones together- getting drunk, going through breakups, turning 21, making food on a stove for the first time, and getting Pokie Sticks at 2am.

Thankfully, Kaitlin’s brother’s basement was Lexie and Alex’s extra storage unit during their time in Denver (only to find the stuff in it was a hodgepodge of college memorabilia- oops). Though they haven’t lived near each other since college, it’s like no time has passed when the two see each other.

2011

Ellen Howard

Ellen and Lexie joined Sigma Kappa at the same time but weren’t friends until Lexie stumbled upon a nannying job that she wanted to share- in came Ellen. They bonded over the little German blonde boy that knew how to make his own breakfast and read Fifty Shades of Grey. Soon after their nannying gig they journeyed to Honduras for a dental mission (Ellen and Lexie were both pre-dental…that lasted long ;)). Their next job together (quite the hustlers they were) was for an old British woman in East Lansing that ordered them around her home, insisting they clean everything from cabinets to toilets…from that moment forward Ellen would always be Audrey because they said bye to the real Audrey after she said the word toilet. Lexie visited Ellen while in grad school in Minnesota – singing in the car by day and talking Bachelor gossip by night.

A few years after undergrad, Ellen and Lexie both lived in Denver for a year before Ellen journeyed off to Sint Maarten for medical school. Though they are miles apart, their friendship prevails. Lexie visited Ellen on the island in March, but is really glad she is going to be back on the mainland for good so soon!

2014

Savana [Savi Sav] Tello

Sav was brought into Lexie’s life by their connection to Hannah. Sav was journeying to bitter cold Michigan for the first time and she knew no one. Hannah, her friend from UCLA, connected her to Lexie, who she knew was also starting a grad program at UofM. From the moment they met, Lexie had a funny feeling her and Sav would be friends for life. The next year brought banana ice cream concoctions, singing, and laughing hysterically on Lexie’s kitchen floor. Sadly, Sav ended up taking an internship overseas and then finishing her grad program back in Cali, but their friendship has nonetheless survived.

Lexie and Alex stayed with Sav and her boyfriend, Rick, last summer and Sav and Rick are journeying to a middle spot soon! Lexie can be found talking to Sav on the phone for hours at a time and wants to thank her times a million for always being the best listener and advice giver <3.

We are so excited to celebrate with you!
